Tynisha - Athletics

Atheletics...
Last week the whole of Tamaki college and us year 9's had our very first annual athletics day, that took place on our school field , which was currently on the 21st of march. The teams/house colours competing were , Kowhai , Totara , Rata and last but not least Puriri. Although we came third  and not first i thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with my classmates. That whole athletics day , i unfortunately did not participate in any sport , However i was happy that most of my friends/classmates and all at least participated in one activity(: .That day was such a fun experience , and i hope to do some kind of activity the following year.

Caroline - Athletics

Everyone felt butterflies in their tummies , I felt a whole zoo. Athletics held on the school field , was a great day. Doing things i never done before. Also the same , sitting back when it comes to relays , participated in shot put placed first and participated in the house tug of war , went and did things I thought I couldn’t do, which inspired me to do it more , and also made me feel more comfortable about being around everyone. It was a splendid day to remember , though our house did not come first we did manage not to come last , but i'm pretty sure we all had fun. Guys come in bikini’s  and dresses , girls in overalls , it was more like opposite day.Field events were great , shot put and discus , along with the track events. The school was a bit colourful after everything was done. Words just can’t explain how awesome that day was.

Sylvia - Athletics

My very first year 9 Athletics took place on our Tamaki College field on Thursday the 21st of March. It was just like an ordianry day but it was packed with loads of fun activites for all students. On the other hand, it was a team war between house colours, Kowhai, Totara, Rata and Puriri. I was officially a member of Puriri and tried my best representing it as well. We had an awesome day ahead of us.

Watching and competing in the chants comp in the beginning, was one of my highlights. Many of them were so creative and so hard to beat, therefore, we may have lost faith.
Puriri in the end, didn’t quite win that challenge, but we got through it. Also a highlight of mine was watching and supporting our Puriri relay team. As I was watching, my heart pounded faster every step a Puriri runner took, it was exciting to keep watch of. Other houses did really well, some we couldn’t keep up with. I no doubt think next year, we will do better.

Tatiana - Athletics

Athletics was the bomb-diggity. Students all getting prepared at and after interval, it was the day that everyone had been waiting for. The day that we show everyone who’s boss. Kowhai, Puriri, Rata and Totara. The four amazing houses that were going to compete against each other. The field looked like a rainbow had fallen and just been splashed all over. Red, blue, green and yellow were everywhere. Paint splashed all over everybody's faces, drumming here and there, everything was amazing. The races were awesome! Puriri, the awesome house that Puriri belongs to, managed to win some races and our chant was over the roof! Even though we didn’t come first, we didn't really care! As long as we showed pride in ourselves, it was all that matters. Puriri What!

Aalyzah - Athletics

Athletics is anything having to do with a sport or being active. Tamaki had their own Athletics, it was very interesting. I did nothing, and got heatstroke. All my friends participated besides me and Tynisha. But overall we came 2nd to last.:(

Chelsea - Athletics

Tamaki College held a day full with, skills, participation and fun called athletics  The four houses lined up ready to perform their chant in front of the other houses. Puriri, Kowhai, Totara and Rata all had exceptional chants.

My house, the best of course came second overall. That was an amazing improvement from the last few years. As we walked on the field bursting out with words, that made us really proud. It was like blue paint been spread over the field.

I participated in the year 10 100 meter race. Even though I wasnt at the same year as the rest of the students, Illy and I strived to succeed. I came fourth and I'm not too sure what Illy came. All also tried discus. The disk compared to my hands was huge. I just couldn't seem to get a good grip of it.

My lazy friends, Aalyzah and Tynisha hadn't done anything, they just sat in the sun. I LOVE doing athletics at Tamaki College because you don't need to get involved in anything. You can watch everyone, eat ice blocks and have a drink, or you can have some fun in some of the different activities there were.

This was the best athletics day EVER and I can't wait until next year.

Alyson - Athletics

athletics

The sun was out, the day was bright and it was GAME ON! On Thursday 21st March 2013, Tamaki College held an athletics day. There are 4 houses, Puriri, Kowhai, Totara and Rata. Each had to prepare a chant and perform it. There were lots of events that was held like 100m sprints, shot put, discus, relays and much more. Everyone had fun from preparing themselves for the day which was putting face paint on, until the very last moment of the day which was picking up rubbish. The day had to come to an end, so we all went home either tired or hyped up.  We will be looking forward to next year.

Ilisapeci - Athletics

Athletics Day
Thursday 21st of March 2013 was the day Tamaki College had athletics. Athletics was really fun even though it was blazing hot. I think I had the most painting all over my face and legs. It was fun I guess the improvements I should have made was to join in many athletics activities. I think the sad thing for me was joining in one event which was 100m. I had a fun day and so was my classmates, Puriri came 3rd and I was really proud of our achievements especially my classmates. Maybe next year I would want to try joining in many events then just one. I would also like to thank Mrs Ferguson for bringing the paints and the equipments such as the afro wig, and the lei.

Nathaniel - Athletics

On the 20 of march Tamaki college had its traditional Athletics day with everyone having a good time until hours went by and some people started to get bad sunburn i had even gotten puriri sunburnt onto my arm however other than that really bad event happening it was a really good time ice blocks and fun events all and all I would've given it a 6 out of 10 in the end Totara came first then Puriri then Rata and then in last was Kowhai I only participated in one event but I still had a good time.

Kayde - Athletics

On the 20th of Wednesday, March 2013, we had our annual athletics day. There are four houses, puriri, rata, kowhai and totara. Totara took it out. Although we came third and not first I enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun. But now I am keen and ready for Cross-Country so we (Puriri) can take it out!

Chylsea - Athletics

It was a lovely Thursday afternoon, the sun shown bright and the lusious blue colour stood out amonge them all.
The day had finally come around today was the day of our school athletics.

HOUSE COLOURS :

Totara - Kaka green,
Rata - The colour of our blood,
Kowhai - The colour of the sun, and the best for last
Puriri - the colour of the clear blue sky.

We started off this beautiful day with our first 2 periods and then we rushed to our tutor classes and got dressed into our house colours and then a quick practise of our house chants, and of course Puriri was going to dominate the other teams. With all our awesome chants underway it was time for the real stuff to begin to start. All houses walking in from each of the 4 corners of the field, singing and yelling out there chants.

Entering onto the field was just the easy bit of the day there were still a lot of tiring events to take place.

Running, laughing, cheering and a lot of cheesy facials all around. The day had finally gone underway. Our first events had taken place. The high jump, running races, and a lot lot more.

A few races in and i fort i would give the 400 meter race ago, and what do you know i came first. The feeling of coming first was extremely awesome just that feeling to have finished with a win.
Threw out the whole day house captains and prefects were handing out ice-blocks and drinks.
As people were running up and down the field people were chasing after and also chucking water at them.
Music was played throughout the whole day. Lots of people getting into the rhythm and start to sing.

Well the day was almost over, and it was time to pack up. Everyone contributed their own little bit towards picking up all the rubbish left on the ground.

The day had come to an end and yet everyone had a huge smile on their face's. Lots of wins but at the end of the day everyone was a WINNER.

Havea - Athletics

It was Wednesday the 20TH 2013 when Tamaki had their Athletics and we had to gather into our House colours which are Puriri (my house colour/ blue), Kowhai (yellow), Totara (green/ winners) and then there's Rata (red ). Athletics was kind of cool because I took out most of the sprints however the lowlight was that Puriri came second but to me that was all right because it was better to place second then to be last. I know that Totara deserved to place first but my call out would be to them saying "you guys better watch your fellows back when it comes to Cross Country!" A rating I would give athletics out of ten would be a ten out of ten but as the year goes past, I'll be back and training for cross country. "Totara, you guys better watch out for cross country because I'm getting ready and prepared.!! :P

Athena - Athletics

Having athletics at a different school is very weird but in a way cool. Walking down to the field with my new house, Puriri wearing all blue which was really awesome. everybody yelling and shout out their houses. But it was very fun, even though I didn't do any events. I just wanted to give the other people a chance so they can win. Yeah, but it was a fun experience, but very hot. Hopefully next year I might do something.

Hainite - Athletics

PURIRI!! WHOHHO Athletics was a blast. I had the most funest  time meeting new people and trying out new activities. I really enjoyed seeing people smile and having alot of fun. My highlight was when PURIRI stood with condenseness and did our cheer. I hope I have more fun next year.

Angelica - Athletics

Last week Thursday the whole school had our annual Athletics day which was when our 4 houses, Puriri, Kowhai, Totara and Rata came together to work together physically and get to know each other better.

My highlight for Athletics was the whole day. Even though my house, Puriri came last I am so glad that we finally came a better place then last.

I enjoyed my first ever Athletics at college and is looking forward for another year next year.

GO PURIRI! :-)

Jarna - Athletcis

Athletics at Tamaki is so much better because we have a lot more fun and so more fun activities to do. The main thing I really enjoyed about athletics was watching the different house going head to head in the game of tug of war, the reason is because this is a big competition game for everyone to enjoy. Over all I really had a lot of fun watching and participating in athletics.

Siosaia - Athletics

Chehuuuuuuuu! Have you ever had such an spontaneous Athletic day ever in your history of Life! Nah just kidding? Tamaki College’s athletic day was one of the best and influencing days of my life. It made me happy in the House of Puriri and It made me quite confident in meeting others throughout the whole school. The athletic day was inspiring and challenging. The events that I supported in was the 1500m run and the 200m run.( It was quite tiring for me) These races were so challenging because i knew that I was racing the fastest Year 9 in the whole of Tamaki College.

Mino - Athletics

My first Athletics at Tamaki College was fun, entertaining and hot. Throughout the day I saw people in wacky, weird costumes including boys in dresses. For the whole day I sat down on the fresh green grass and was being entertained by the events infront of me, the relays were especially funny. This year I chose not to particapate in any events but hopefully next year I will join some activities. Sadly this year my team, Puriri, came 2nd...to last.

For the past 2 days, I have been doing some serious research on a classmate of mine, Angelica. I find this girl very funny, thoughtful and smart, though sometimes she doesn’t show it. I’m glad she is part of my class 9PFn this year.

First things first, Angelica attended St Pius X and was very grateful to be apart of that school. Her best memory there was everyday - good and bad as she says. Angelica likes films that connect to the genres: Drama, Sports, Music and Comedy. Her favourite tv shows as a matter of fact is Revenge and Shortland Street. On the other hand, she prefers anything that is yummy and nice to eat when it comes to food. Angelica has great taste in music also, she’s a one directioner, fond of Chris Brown and listens to anything that has a upbeat like reggae. My theory for his best memory at Tamaki Intermediate would probably be him winning our school speeches placing 1st in the entire school.(Which had about what 90-130 Students)One of his other favourite memories would have to be Our Trip down to the south of the North Island AKA Wellington.(Also Known As ‘Wellywood’ (I think it was) I bet that it would have made history throughout the entire history of Tamaki Intermediate. Havea - The Tamaki Way

I reckon that the Tamaki way is an impressive saying and also an stunningly way to show rules. The Tamaki Way is mainly about telling students where and what is out of bounds and what truly speaks of the truth about the school itself. I know that the Tamaki Way is a lesson to generally tell students what is allowed to be done and worn, and then there’s the things that you're forbidden to do or try. I think I would give it an effort to follow the rules and chose to listen to the Tamaki Way.

Tupac - Merits and Class of the Week

Merits are points given to each Year 9 class from each teacher, the maximum merits you can get is ten from each teacher. The class with the most at the end of the week gets an awarded in assembly with a trophy and the title the class of the week.

Tupac - The Tamaki Way

The Tamaki Way is no fighting. Fighting can get you in trouble with the school your parents and your body could get badly damage from it.You could get hurt real bad and end up in the hospital because of it. Also fighting is not the right way to solve your problems.

Kayde - The Tamaki Way

The Tamaki way. The tamaki way is our school rules to keep it safe and healthy. There are many rules to do this like No violence abuse or racism, no sexual harrasment, no prohibited items and many more! For me to have a good time at Tamaki College I need to follow these rules and have fun!

Nathaniel - Merits and Class of the Week

Merits and class awards are really cool because if you win every week they announce the yr 9 class of the week and if you win then you get a special treat and it also feels really cool because you know that your class is better then all the others and that makes me feel really cool.

Alyson - The Tamaki Way

The rule that relates to me is TO WEAR YOUR UNIFORM CORRECTLY. The reason why I relate to this rule is because wearing your uniform correctly to me is like wearing it with pride. To feel proud in what you are wearing. To represent your school with pride and represent your school well.

Cruz - The Tamaki Way

Respect other people’s property
I think this will do the best for me because in my previous school years many of my things had gone missing and had not been returned and it quite enraged me. Also now that i’m at Tamaki College I don’t think that the people here will do such a thing because everyone seems so kind and friendly and they don't seem like the type of people that will steal my things. Also the students look more reliable to give things too and they will return them, instead of just stealing them. Thats what I believe is the Tamaki Way :)

Hainite - The Tamaki Way

TREAT OTHERS FAIRLY

It is good to treat each other with respect because, if you treat them right they will treat you the same way. Treating people with respect is good so that nobody feels left out or odd. Please don't put people down lift them up cheer them so they feel comfy. I hop that this rule will be followed because, now and days it feels like this rule doesn't exist any more.

Jarna - The Tamaki Way

Respecting other people’s property affects me because in my previous school lots of things of mine have been stolen, now at Tamaki College it feels like no one here will do such a thing. The reason I think people from Tamaki wouldn’t steal is because they seem very sensible and kind, and would not do that to anybody.
