Respect - Caroline

Respect to me means , treating others the way you wanna be treated. Respect is something that is shown not only to people but to properties and other things. Showing respect to school properties , and environment. To me , no matter what they do , if they respect me , I’ll do the same to them . Without respect I think that nothing , or anything would be right. Respect and manners will eventually get you far in life. Show respect to earn respect. Respect to me at church is , wearing appropriate clothes , in front of my brothers and sisters in christ , and also , respect in our culture. At home respect is something that we show against and among each other , to me I show alot of respect to my parents , for all they have one , and for all their sacrifices for us , esp when schooling back then was rough which was a major , all thanks to them and the man above , I still live up to now .

Respect - Ilisapeci

Respect to me means , being polite to everyone . To me respect means using manners . Respect is something that is needed to be shown to everyone and everything. Respect should also be shown to things like not only people but religion , and culture.

Respect - Matthew

What is respect? Well I think respect is showing regard and appreciation for one another. It means accepting a person for who they are, just not by the colour of their skin. And letting them be themselves, instead of them putting an act on just to be appreciated. It means valuing each others point of views. It is to honour yours and others personal values, religion, family customs. It means being kind and polite to others. The way you want to be treated is the way you treat others.Respect means to not cause violence within each other.

What is respect in school? Respect in school is, being kind to the teachers and other students. To show that you are at school to learn and be a friend to others, and not there to cause violence or harm to others. To not be a egg in class, and to listen to the teacher and get your work done.Respect the teachers by listening is class and passing test to show your learning.

What is respect outside of the house and school? It is like the others. To be kind to other locals, and shop owners etc. To respect buildings and cars, houses. By not tagging, throwing stuff at it, breaking things in or on it.By treating the town with kindness.

Respect - Aalyzah

To me, respect is when people value your opinion and admire your being. When people can look up to you. When you are given your place and are treated as a valuable human being. It is a positive feeling that should not be confused with fear. You have to show respect to get respect and people get respect for the things they've done in the past and they way they handle life they value people for who they are as a person not for what they have. And To ge

Respect - Tynisha

Respect is what you need to have before you can get. If you want someone to treat you a certain way, you have to treat them that same way. You have to have manners. Of course, everyone wants to be treated equal without discrimination of race, color, gender, or religion. You have to respect (have manners) the disabled. It means that everyone deserves a chance to be treated like human. In that way, good. Everyone deserves to be treated good unless they give you a reason not too. In grade school, teachers say "treat others the way you want to be treated". If you want people to respect you, you have to respect them.

Respect - Sylvia

Respect can be shown as actions and as well as being spoken, but many people assemble different meanings for it. To me, if you want respect, you have to earn it by giving it to someone else. At home, as the youngest member in the house, I show equal respect to everyone. It’s not compulsory, it’s the right thing to do. I think at school, we improve our respect towards teachers. To respect a teacher, I think you need to show grattitude, just to show that we are not wasting their time teaching us the skills they know to help us get better in our educational areas. As a christian, I change the way I speak towards my elders and I respect the area and people that I share my presence with. Anywhere out of these areas, your respect should be shown equally. It doesn’t matter where you are or who you’re with, you don’t change for anyone. Respect is respect.

Respect - Tatiana

To me, respect means to show appreciation and loyalty to your peers and others. Respect at home means to appreciate your caregivers and other people living with you. It also means to show honesty and kindness to others. Respect at school means to commit to your education and be fair to others. Respect is to treat others the way you are wanted to be treated. Respect is to considerate of others. No reira, tena koutou, tena koutou, tena tatou katoa.

Respect - Tupac

To me respect means loyalty to a certain person that you know and respect is something you can be learned by anyone.Even people who have lost it for you.

Respect - Havea

What respect means to me is just a kind manner of treating my fellow people nicely so that they may treat me nicely in return. What respect means at school is nothing because we have people forcing other students to do things they really wouldn't want to do, e.g. smoking or fighting. Respect at home is improving and why is because at home my family and I had just recently joined a family help group and we're starting to get better and better with each other. At first we were just swearing at complaining to our mum but now, we're totally different and how is because we're all communicating positively and taking responsibilities in what we should do. Respect at my church is very very high because as a Mormon, it's one of the commandments that we should obey, in-order to go to heaven! Outside all of the places,(church, home & school), respect is average but sometime soon, we'll all get along with each other, and that's what respect means to me!

Respect - Kayde

What does respect mean to me?
At home? At church? At school? Outside all of these?

Well, I think that respect outside of school is maintained stronger and we are more disciplined. Especially at home and church. But at school I think that the discipline drops a bar. Sadly.

A world without respect would be tagged all over, bombed and destroyed with too much hood rats. So to me respect is a very good thing, though I am not that respectful. Still I try my best to be!

Respect - Nathaniel

Respect means to me when someone treats me with fairness and honesty i believe people with respect should treat others property with respect and they should never treat their friends with annoyance and that they do not insult their friends because of something they like.

Respect - Jarna

Respect at home for me means when your parents or caregiver tells you to go and do something you do it. For example they say go and do the dishes, you go and do them. Also if they tell you to take your belongings into your room do it straight away.

For me at school respect is being kind to the other students around the school, also is to be polite to the teachers and don't talk back to them either. I also believe that respect is looking after the buildings and plants and the environment. Also not littering and use the bins.

I think that respect outside of home and school still occurs. That means don't litter on the streets, that's what bin's are for chucking your rubbish inside it not for decorations. One more thing I think respect means is how people act on the streets, like swearing there is no need for that, because young children do not need to hear that kind of language.

Respect - Angelica

What does RESPECT mean to me at HOME, SCHOOL AND CHURCH?

RESPECT at HOME to me means listening to my parents, helping out with duties, and relating to one another such as my siblings and parents in a more polite way, so that we can all feel happy and safe in the environment and home we live in.

RESPECT at SCHOOL to me means putting in a lot of effort and as much as I can in whatever I do as much as my teachers put in. Also to be considerate of others, use my manners and show a positive attitude towards the teachers, staffs and students.

RESPECT at CHURCH to me means being appreciative of what God has done and to thank him. Also to be quiet during mass, be manner able and to be respectful when I am in God's house.

RESPECT IS A VIRTUE THAT YOU SHOULD SHOW, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE,
OR WHERE YOU GO! :)

Respect - Mino

To me, respect is listening to your parents and older siblings. Respect is not only listening but taking action, for example doing chores and lending a helping hand and doing requests given to you from your elders.

At school it is respectful to listen to your teachers and school leaders. It is disrespectful to talk back to school leaders and teachers. You will never learn anything if you are disrespectful.

At church it is respectful to listen to the sermon. The minister preaches, your job is to listen respectfully.

You must learn respect to know your place.

Respect - Athena

I think that respect is when someone shows how much they admire the other person. I think respect should be shown to everyone because, it shows that you are not rude and, it shows your manners. I hope to see respect used more often in our world.

Respect - Hainite

What does respect mean to me?

Respect to me means to always be polite towards others. Lend a helping hand. Help those in need. Show good manners and always be respectful. Be respectful towards others and especially yourself. Never be disrespectful because, being disrespectful is not good.

Respect - Alyson

What does respect mean to you?

Respect means to me is to show manners and be polite to others and show respect towards your self. You have to show respect towards others and especially towards yourself. Being Disrespectful is really not cool. So the best advice is to SHOW SOME RESPECT.

Respect - Chelsea

What does respect mean to me?

Being respectful is a very important thing to do. You have to decide on your decision, is it kind? is it true? and is it necessary? if these questions are responding with the answer no, don't do it.

You have to be respectful EVERYWHERE you go. At school, home and even in church (if you go) Show respect to your parents, teachers and other adults. Admire people and their thoughts. Don't just look at the speaker when they're speaking but listen to what they have to say. Having respect is one of the most important things in the world

Respect - Siosaia

What does respect mean to me?

I think respect means being good and respecting others such as helping them out and being kind and helpful to all.
At home being respectful is mostly everything to us,because if we do not respect our parents then we would not get anywhere in life.
At school respect is everywhere. We have to respect because it is good for the teachers and students because they will appreciate it.

Star Dome - Matthew

Science trip to the Stardom. Most year 9 of Tamaki college went to the stardome. We took a bus ride, then were greeted by a staff member of the Stardome. We gathered into the dome itself, and took a seat. The staff member told us that we were going to watch a video. It began to play. Its showed us the contislations and some important stars, like the Matariki stars. He showed us how he skipped a week and where the starts were in the sky.

We left the dome room, and entered the foyer. Which had some gizmos about space and the galaxy. Like the weight machine. Its shows how much we would weigh on Earth, and show us how much we would way on the moon, or the other planets. This was my favourite.

Then we were introduced the then space room I think it was called. This is where he taught us what its like to be in space, or in a rocket. He showed us a video clip of what it was like is space. The video had a man and he was showing us how to brush his teeth. It was a tricky video because everything was floating. Though it was humorous how he could just leave the microphone, toothpaste and brush without having to worry about it. He also showed a part of how tricky it was to pick something up off the moon onced you dropped it. An astronaut tried to pick something up he dropped, but it was hard, so he fell and was rolling on the moons surface.

Our turn is the Observatory was over, but we weren't leaving just yet. We had a little play around on the park that was just outside the Stardome. We also went for a walk up One tree hill Mountain. We took a few pictures and had a laugh up the top. I found this a time to bond with the other students and class members. I noticed how our class became a lot closer after this trip.

It wasn't a bad trip after all. It all ended well, and we headed back to school to finish off the day.

Star Dome - Tynisha

Star dome.
The week before last we got a opportunity to learn about solar system and how it works. Each class travelled by bus to Star dome where we observed meteors and learnt about the planets and Matariki.
As we walked in, we safely locked our bags into a cage. Walking into a room where the displayed graphics were going to be shown, I felt as if I was already up in space. Time flew, as so much information was going into your head. The thought of experiencing the different tools in the foyer was also great. after a while i had gained a lot of knowledge focused on the galaxies.

Our second rotation was a brief interval Then the  steep walk up one tree hill, where there were amazing sightings, it was fascinating , yet very tiring:D

as it came to a end i had realised our class had become a lot closer than usual, and knowing we got along lot more made the trip a lot better.

Star Dome - Caroline

Star Dome

Last week Friday , the Year 9 got to go Star Dome , for me first time but for others it was pretty familiar. We had the buses packed of students from Tamaki College and then departed school. We had finally reached our destination , we were divided to two groups , 2-3 classes got to go in , the others enjoyed the outside , playing on playgrounds and also getting to walk up One tree Hill while waiting on the other classes to finish exploring inside of star dome , where we got to go in a room and lay down on chairs , and watch the sealing , while it looks like we're in space. Teaching us a lot of new things , and also getting to explore things that were displayed , outside of that room . Then we watched more clips about space. How you brush your teeth , real interesting , and that it is important to do exercise while in space. We then had to rotate , we went out and had did the walk up One Tree Hill and the view was just amazing . We then assembled together at the end and loaded the buses and dove back to school. Star Dome was a great experience .

Star Dome - Ilisapeci

I was feeling so excited , knowing that , it was the day that we got the opportunity to go to Stardome. All year 9 assembled to the front of Tamaki College , and was arranged into Groups. We were then loaded onto the buses by one of the teachers. We left school , and took the day off to explore new things. WE were able to watch what its like to do things in space , the importances of being in space, Exercise for an example. and that in space , and that brushing your teeth in space was also quite interesting. When we finish exploring the inside of Star Dome , we got to walk up One Tree Hill. WE reached the top after 15 mins walk from the StarDome , waiting on the other half of year 9 to finish exploring inside , and the view and everything up there was beautiful. Star Dome wasn't something I´ve been to before , but it was great , especially getting to go with the amazing 9PFN .

Star Dome - Alyson

On the 7th of June the year 9 students took a visit to the Stardome.

At the Stardome I learnt alot of things about the moon and the stars for example, I learnt that if you connect some of the stars you will find that it makes a little picture. What I really enjoyed at the Stardome was the flying fox/swing. I hope that we will get to go back and visit the Stardome again together as one.

The Science Roadshow - Aalyzah

On Monday my class and another went to the science road show in the morning. In the beginning they did a show on different experiments that were really interesting. After that they let us look and play with some cool science projects. My favourite part of the road show was the hovercraft even though I didn’t have a go at it. I really hope I get the chance to do this again next year.

Star Dome - Jarna

Before I went to the Stardome on Friday I didn’t know a lot about space. I really enjoyed watching how the planets were formed inside the dome. My favourite thing about the trip was when we got the chance to explore the different equipment inside the foyer. I wouldn’t mind going again next year.

Star Dome - Hainite

On the 7th of June the year 9 students got the opportunity to visit the Stardome  .

During our time of the trip, I learnt quite a few things like, A rocket has to carry its own fuel tank separately. At the Stardome I watched this interesting video about brushing your teeth in space. Unfortunately you have to swallow all the liquid that you create from brushing your teeth ... In other words you cant spit your liquid out.

Some day I hope that I could return to the Stardome and learn much more.

Star Dome - Mino

Last Friday, all the year nines were lucky enough to receive the opportunity to go to the Stardome Observatory. I was no stranger to the Stardome, but it had 6 whole years since I last visited.

At the Stardome I learnt lots of new things . For example, a rocket has a separate fuel tank and extra rocket boosters that helps launch the rocket. I also learnt that the moon is not close to earth, in fact the moon is thirty earth spans away. The things we learnt included stars, galaxies, sunrise, sunset and how to read constellations.

Everyone got to watch various videos on Youtube an Astronaut that had filmed himself doing many everyday things, like brushing your teeth. It was quite fascinating to learn that the toothpaste Astronauts have is edible.

For our second rotation, we got to go for a 'little' walk up One Tree Hill, which was fun. I got to have a laugh, take some photos, and talk about the experience I had at the Stardome Observatory.

Star Dome - Chylsea

Bus waits above us at the school gates.Just sitting there waiting to take us to the StarDome.

It's a Friday morning. The sun shone above us. Today was the day all the year 9 students at Tamaki College where going to the StarDome.

The bell rings , and we all assemble out in front of the music room. Teachers counting their students making sure no one gets left behind. We wouldn't want that to happen.

So we all aboard the bus waiting anxiously for the bus to move.

Vroom Vroom , the bus takes off. Everyone singing and laughing.

We approach at our destination and all jump out of the bus.
We were split into groups. Some people went for a dreadful walk up One Tree Hill , and the rest of the crew went into a new world. The land of the stars.

I was in the first group , the group that went to visit up in space.
We relaxed on the comfy seats in a little quiet room.
Looking up at the roof , a new discovery appeared. Moon & light , stars. Everything we see in the night sky.

After all that we all went out into the corridor and looked around. Exploring all the objects that have been seen and found in our solar system.

About 15 minutes after looking at everything we went into another little room. We watch a documentary about life in space. How people move , how they survive & what they do in space.

It was very fascinating. After all of that we swapped around. So the group outside where going into the Dome as we were about to struggle going up the hill. Woooow ! that was soooo tiring. Never Again.LOL ! Once at the top of the hill we all took photos. Then ran all the way back down and boarded our bus.:)

Now it was time to go home.

By Chylsea.

Star Dome - Tupac

Six days ago we went to the Star Dome where we heard many amazing facts about space.Like how planets were made and how our solar system was made. Then we had a brief interval to and walk around. Then we walked up to the tip of One Tree Hill which was tiring to do.But the bright side we got a great view and see all these formations that other people made with rocks.Later we left and I nearly forgot my bag

Star Dome - Nathaniel

All the  year nines went to the magnificent observatory on one tree hill there we learned heaps how to read the stars, when to look for the stars and what planets do what and what they are affected by. Afterward we went up for a very long and tiring walk to the top of one tree hill where we saw many cool sights and stones made into the shape of something other earlier visitors had made at the bottom. All and all it was a really cool time and i'm glad we went.

Star Dome - Sylvia

Year 9’s were lucky enough to visit stardome on Friday. We got there and had the chance to watch a film all about our solar system and how our planet is orbiting today. We didn’t spend too long in there until we were allowed to visit the observatory room. Soon after, we were instructed to enter the space room where we learn about astronauts and rockets. I enjoyed it quite a bit, no doubt about that.

As a second rotation, we all went for a walk up-hill to one tree hill. Up there, we saw things we hadn’t experienced in quite a long time. We took photos as a way of capturing memories. Then our way back to the bus, we took a whole lot more as a class and as friends. My experience was like no other, I enjoyed it a lot. I wouldn’t mind doing it again some time soon.

Star Dome - Tatiana

The Year 9 Science trip to the Stardome on Friday was amazing. We learnt lots of things about space, stars, galaxies etc. We watched a film where it taught us how the Earth was made and how the whole universe is orbiting. We also learnt  about the constellations and stars. After, we entered another room where we learnt about going into space and what they do there. We watched a video of a guy brushing his teeth.

We also walked up One Tree Hill to this tower thing. It was cool and we took a lot of pictures. After we had lunch, and a little free time then headed on the buses back to school. This Science trip was a blast and we gained a lot of knowledge.

Star Dome - Chelsea

It was an extremely amazing day for all year nine students to learn about the solar system and how it works. Each class travelled by bus to Stardome where we observed meteors and learnt about the planets and matariki.

As we walked in, we safely locked our bags into a cage. Walking into a room where the displayed graphics were going to be shown, I felt as if I was already up in space. Time flew, your imagination ran wild and so much information was going into your head. The day had just began.

After being in this mind blowing room, we all explored the different things out in space and fun facts like how much you would way on the moon. We then had a lesson on matariki and how far these seven stars were from planet earth.

It was time for our break. Everyone was outside enjoying the refreshing air. We swung on the swings, rid the flying fox and just sat down relaxing in the cozy sunshine. We were all exhausted, but on the other hand, we were about to walk up One Tree Hill. As our distance got shorter and shorter to reach the top, we started running. I was relieved to reach the top but now, it was coming down. This part of our trip was MUCH easier.

We had a little rest and then it was time to head back to school. I had an amazing day and learnt so many things along the way.

Star Dome - Angelica

On Friday 7th of June was my first time going to Stardome, not only that it was my first trip with my new year level fellow students at my new school, which is why that was my highlight of our trip. I enjoyed all the laughter, food, exploration and especially the company. I got the opportunity to know the year 9's more and hang out as a year level somewhere else than school. I felt that I built a strong bond and friendship with everyone especially with my classmates of 9PFN. Even though I ruined my time there by getting in trouble I still managed to enjoy myself and learn new things about the planets, the moon, sun and more and get to explore the inside of Stardome and the outside further and closer area of the Stardome building. Thumbs up for that trip and cannot wait for another year 9 outing trip, fingers crossed would be soon.  WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! :)

Star Dome - Athena

This was my first time to the Star Dome. It was alright, but it wasn't what I had expected. I thought it would be a little bit better than it actually was. The bus ride there was pretty fun because we played games and just laughed mostly the whole way through.

The Star Dome was the first thing we went into, it was about planets, the sun, moon and stars. It was kind of fun, but I don't really have interest in planets so it was also boring. The next thing we done was explore the Observatory Where there was facts about some planets, as well as activities we could play on.

After a while we went to the Space room, it was where they told us some of things people do in space. I didn't like it because it was too long and boring. He showed us some other dwarf planets like Make make, Haumea, Eris and more. I was bored through out the whole thing.

The next part was the best part of all, because it was lunch time. We played, ate, hanged with our friend's and ran around playing. Later on after Lunch Time, people went up the mountain. I was sad cause I couldn't do it, because my foot was sprained. After lunch it was time to go back to school, once we got to school it was home time. That was the thing I liked about it, we got to go home straight away.

Star Dome - Kayde

On Friday the 7th of June 2013 the entire year 9's of Tamaki College went on a trip to a place called stardome on a dormant volcano called one tree hill. While there we were taught how the galaxy was formed some 4 billion years ago. We were told also how to brush your teeth in outer-space. If you already don't know then you don't want to know what to do. Overall we learned about the stars and what up above us in the far away galaxies.

The End.

Star Dome - Siosaia

Chills, Wander and Fun emotions going on in or bodies. Have you ever been to the stardome ever in your lifetime. Well last Friday the whole of the Year 9’s and I travelled there by bus to learn about the galaxy for science.

The most important, (or should I say the best part of the trip) is the start of the trip when we arrived at the Stardome and we were the first group to go in.  We watched a movie where we learnt about the galaxy the stars and the planets and how some of the meteorites.

During the movie my friend and I were having an conversation about how the planets were formed. It was said that they were accompanied by the meteors smashing into them.

This was fun because I have experienced a lot in the Stardome.

Star Dome - Havea

Hahaha well to be honest, I didn't really like the bus rides to Stardom and back because I had to put up with the 9PFn girls so called singing and they're annoying laughs. I gave stardom a rate out of ten, which was five because they weren't as much as I expected, (no offence). What we learnt were things to do with our solar system but the two main topics were the planets that our galaxy contains and the stars like Maui's hook on the scorpion and the group of stars, known as the Matariki. That was just for the first half however, for the second we got to have free time outside at one tree hill park, until we went for that hike up One Tree Hill. It was moments away until I was able to breath as I was desperately seeking for oxygen. As I hiked down with the group, I chose to take a short-cut with my friends and we thought that since we were the first ones back to the park, that we can bags what ever activity we can see. I was having fun screaming like a girl until I heard the engines of the buses restart. I know that stardom was meant to be cool however, not for me. I sprinted across the field to search for my belongings and waited in the front of the line to bags my seat in the bus. As I hoped on the bus, I prayed that the 9PFn girls would be quite for once because peace and quite is like music to my ears. I was still in the middle of my prayer my classmates were pushing me to hurry up but as soon as the girls entered, they straight went from talking to singing. The bus ride was approximately half an hour and that was how long I was stuck with them. We had just arrived at home sweet home and as soon as those bus doors opened, BOOM and I was gone.
