Athletics - Athena

This years athletics was way better than last year, in my opinion. Again I was in the house Puriri, our chant was alright I only liked on of them. But it was still better than last year. I watched most of the events but my favourite was watching the high jump. In the end Puriri ended up coming 3rd or last idkm8.

Athletics - Kayde

For me my athletics experience was fun! This was my second year at high school and my second, not to mention best athletics yet at Tamaki College. Our chant for Puriri was AWESOME to set a good vibe for the athletics day. Although we didn't end up as the eventual winners, I still had fun. I competed in many sports, but didn't win any, and again I had fun! That was the main idea of the day, so yeah I HAD FUN!

Athletics - Matthew

Athletics wasn't as cool as last year. But it was still a fun experience. The costumes were amazing. I had fun and I like to watch people run. It was hot the whole day. It was stink how we couldn't wear paint and bandanas. Athletics was fun

Athletics - Joseph

Well the chant sucked half of it didn't make sense and the other half was just annoying and the walk out there we kept stopping for no reason its weird, Mr Harris was going to deduct points off us we were so slow. What next? The weather rain, sun, cloud, rain, sun, cloud and the grass was all pointy and hurt my bum. I slept most of the day and got my face burnt but apart from allllllll of that it was a good day.

Athletics - Caroline

Last minute chant practises . Strictly screaming at us all , expecting perfection . 10 Pfn remains in the same house Puriri . Rata begins with a big bang. As each house stands up and perform their chants it gets more interesting . Difficult to seek for students to participate in most activities .

Athletics - Tatiana

ATHLETICS DAY! WHAT CAN I SAY? HIDING BEHIND MINO AND SINOLA WERE NO HELP AT ALL!  I HAD TO RUN LIKE 3 TIMES. THE WEATHER WAS LIKE NOT COOL AT ALL BECAUSE I GOT SUNBURNT. OUR CHANT WAS AN ULTRA FAIL  BUT I STILL LIKED IT. I THINK PURIRI CAME 3RD OR LAST BUT WE'RE STILL THE BEST. IT WAS ALSO MS FERGUSONS BIRTHDAY!

Athletics - Angelica

After a whole period practising the day before, today was the day. A day of chanting, teamwork, representing your house, running, activities and overall fun. It was Tamaki College's Athletics Day for 2014. I had a sore throat and had already lost my voice from practising, however I was excited to represent my house, Puriri for another year.

After all houses beginning with Puriri, then Rata, followed by Totara and lastly Kowhai made our way to our areas on the field, we started off with the chant battle.
Totara went up, followed by Rata. Now it was Puriri's turn. We begun with "Blue steady, Puriri are ready".

After one race, another one came. I competed in the first race, which was the race we had to run around the field 3 times and which gave me 5th place. I also competed in another race which was one whole lap around the field, and came 2nd. The second to last race I competed in was the 100 meter race, and I came 3rd. Lastly I joined the relay race, with a mixture of year 9's and 10's.

My highlight for Athletics Day 2014 was competing to be very honest. Although we placed third, it was better then coming last. Also even though I didn't come first, competing and participating is what counted. I was proud of Puriri and proud walking around dressed in Blue.

What a good way to start off this year, and to get closer with everyone. :)

Athletics - Alayzah

I hate Athletics day. Everything about it idek. The chants were better than last year, just a little bit. I didn’t like the chant practice either, the leaders were too bossy. We only got to take two period… ONLY TWO! I like the other teams chants because they were swag. Out march on sucked too. I didn’t participate in any activities because im sweg. Jkidding. Even though we’re the only year ten Puriri class, we did pretty good tbvh. But yeah, shot pfn.

Athletics - Sylvia

Hence the fact that I didn’t participate in anything, I still enjoyed myself supporting from behind the ropes on the field in front of the events taking place. Chant practice before the actual thing started went pretty well, no actually, it looked like the real deal from my persepctive. The performance didn’t go as well as we expected compared to the practice we had but it still reached a good expectation. Oh yeah, I hate Athletics because anything to do with running is stupid. Puriri is cool.

Athletics - Chelsea

It was Athletics day. Puriri, my house color only had the chance to practice our chant for 50 minutes. Were we confident to go out on the field and perform what our house captains had come up with?

Rata, Kowhai, Totara and Puriri all performed their chant to start the day. There were so many students dressed up as charectors from movies. Everyone looked amazing including the teachers.

I participated in the 200 meter sprint for the year 10 girls. At the end of our race I came 4th place. Overall, I think this years athletics is a day to remember!

Athletics - Tynisha

Personally i hate atheltics, Well not so much atlhletics! just running. the weather wasnt helpful either maaaaaan. 2hot. But this year was alot better. Being the only year ten class sucked though, had to participate in alot more activities then we thought we would. ugh. To be honest,I think of athletics day as a day off school or in this case, no work;'D. The new year nines are fit and little. lel. As athletics come to an end, where we took place didnt really matter as long as our leaders had a good day then so did we. ✌

Athletics - Nathaniel

Athletics Day was not that great for me because the weather didn’t want to stay still, changing from rain to sun about 5 times the chants were a fail as many people lost their voices from practicing the day before and finally my team lost and I partook in no challenges.

Athletics - Jarna

Athletics day was awesome! I watch our amazing house Puriri win a few activities. The most thing I enjoyed watching was the races. The reason I enjoyed it was because it looked like the Olympics. People in lanes, running, catching up each other, over taking each other. I really enjoyed it even though I didn't compete.

Athletics - Mino

Athletics. Puriri (Blue). Joy.
Commontion roared within the gates of Tamaki College. Tis be the of Athletics.
I wouldn't call Athletics my fondest day in which I cherish, but a day where I play hide n go seek from the Puriri House Captions.

They searched within the sea of blue to find contenders for tug of war. As 'invisible' as I was the Puriri house captions notice me.
So I had to go join the Junior tug of war contest. The loud speaker shouted "PULL!", Puriri was off and in a blink of an eye we lost.
Round 2. Heave I thought in my mind. We had this in the bag but in the time it takes your heart to beat, victory was swiped away from Totara.
Overall it was a hot, boiling, scorching, enjoyable day I spent with my tutor class 10PFn.

Athletics - Hainite

Athletics was a blast, seeing different colours and smiles. Better
chants and better leaders. This year I felt confident with
participating one sport such as discuss. I hope next year will be
better, that way it will be extreme.

Athletics - Alyson

BLUE STEADY, PURIRI IS READY, well that was the first part of the Puriri chant. Well when we were learning the chant it was pretty cool. The chant was not that long not that short but just right. The day came, and it was time for us to do our chant. I reckon that we were quite compared to the other houses. The day was good. I participated in discuss and shot put. Overall the house of Puriri came 3rd. :)

Athletics - Havea

The day before Athletics day was the day we praticed our chant's and my tutor class and I are in the house colour Puriri. For about fifty minutes, we had to pratice at least three chant's and the second one was the longest. To be honest it was boring as, but fun at the same time aye because my ding-dong of a friends and I were mucking around and we were just playing shadow-boxing.

Then it came to the day of truth, yes it was Athletics days but before the events we had to practice for a little while then we have the performance's. As we practiced, my ding-dong of a friends and I did what we normally do, be idiots and muck around playing shadow boxing, but we already knew the chants so we were all sweet.

As we practiced it came to the moment of truth, and so Puriri marched onto the field like a blue gang of fierce rebels, but really, we're just a bunch of kids. Then we were seated into our area's where we had to stay seated for the remainder of the day but I reckon that was pretty smart organising that, because imagine four different house colours sitting in one group, there'd be colours every where. For the performances, Totara was first, then Rata, then it was us. As we were chanting, the boys and I were still mucking around and then Matthew (one of my ding-dong friends) and I threw Kayde ( the other ding-dong) onto my shoulder and we happily chanted, but MAN was that little guy heavy. After our performance then Kowhai was last but I got to admit, they've probably had the best house performance that I've seen so far.

After all houses performed, we started our athletics days and my friend Saia started Puriri off in the 1500m, and as minutes went by, I followed by going to shot-put, coming in third place and judging by the hugeness of the other boys that were doing shotput, I thought I was going to come last, but no I came third! After shotput I went and had a rest, meaning I went back and mucked around with the boys, for like five minutes.
Then 200m event was going. I wouldn't say I was fast but I came first by a huge gap and I was pretty impressed with myself because as I stood at the starting point, and heard the gun go off, there was this one kid named JD who was in-front of me for the first few meters, until I was in clutch mode, meaning I boosted it. After 200m I felt tired so I went and scabbed some watermelon off Mrs Tuipolotu and I personally thank her for that but anyways, I felt tired so I rested with the boys.

Later on was high jump for year ten boys and I aced that, coming in second place. For my height, I reckon I can jump pretty high. I think there were about fifteen of us and in the third round, there were only 5 of us and I manage to hold on but I couldn't much longer because 100m were on and I had to choose between 100m or High Jump, so I stuck with high jump. As High Jump went on, later was the relay that was the final event and I got to admit that was the best day of the week. I bet if we had changed one of our runners for relay, then we would've at least came third or fourth but what happened already happened.

As I look back now, I regret not going to 100m because everyone was telling I should've ran 100m but that's their problem aye, Lol. There is one person that I want to be trained by and that's one of the boys, Saia because he's so dedicated to his fitness and sports, so yeah I just wanna say Peace to the boys and Kia Ora to who ever is reading this..!!

Athletics - Sinola

Athletics day!

Blue, green, yellow and red were the four significant colours on athletics day.Although the word ‘’athletics’’ appeared in my mind as ‘fun’, I didn’t enjoy athletics that much. However, it was cool to see a bit of Tamaki College’s sporty students, along with some insane costumes I never thought I’d see.The chant practise was very, well.. boring if i had to be very honest,I didn’t enjoy it one bit. Then there was our march which  was more like walking to our destination, but it was alright, because it was cool to see the ninjas to whatever they were tryna do. Lastly our chant was pretty hectic, but I have to say green defeated us with their amazing chant.Although I did not participate in any activities I had a good time hiding under the lavalava from the leaders so I wouldn’t get chosen to participate, and also acting like I could play the guitar so no-one would ask me to run.

Athletics - Ilisapeci

On Thursday 21st of February Tamaki College held a very special event called athletics. In athletics there are 4 houses. Puriri,Kowhai,Rata and Totara. Unfortunately this year my class was in puriri, the house we were in last year. The puriri chant was good, to be true it was better than last year. It was probably hard for us seniors to get to learn the words because it only took us one day and a half to learn the chant all properly and off by heart.
Firstly we each show cased the chant we had been practicing. We all did good, my team was loud and proud. In athletics day we had nine events which were discus, high jump, tug of war, 200m, 1500m, 400m, 100m, shot put, ziggy marley. It was good to see most of our team participate and try but for me I wanted to do high jump but I missed the chance, only because my and via was lost.

Through it all it was cool seeing the year nine participating more than us (lols). The athletics this year has made the new bees to blend in more and feel comfortable more. Overall it was good we came last (i think), Personally I thank our leaders who have taught us our chant  in one and a half day, participated, encouraged us all to go up.(soz I have forgotten their names) lols. ohh and It was HOT!! str8 up. But all was good :):)

Athletics - Saia

ATHLETICS DAY
PURIRI
Excitement, Joy and Hard Work. Puriri the best house of all. Blue steady, Yep, Puriri is Ready. As we made our way down to the wharekai for our second day of chant practice which was right before the Athletics actually started. So we learnt our last chant and got the rest into our heads and memorised.

As we got up to march into our house spots, we see Rata Ninja’s running down and slicing their way through thick pure GI air. Then as the M.C (Mr Harris) invited us to come and sit down and take our place we see Totara making their way down to the field. Then after around 2-3 minutes we see Kowhai marching down to the track like they were special to the world.

As the first event came our leaders Daniel and Joe were asking for volunteers to run the first event which was 1500m, equivalent to three and a half laps. For that event I came around fourth place, but at the start of the race I was leading the pack for the first two laps then ran out of gas, then blessing came from second place and took it out.

Then the next event came up and it was the 200 metre sprints. Our Puriri runners were really nervous, but me in particular was very tired and worn out but I also thought about what our leaders had told us, this is their last year so make it a good one. So as the girls took off, it was time for the next set of girls to run so, as we were sitting Havea and I were still discussing who was running with the first pack so we both agreed that Havea would take the first and I would run the second heat. As my race came up, I had the urge to go toilet and as I was still thinking the shot was made. We all took off like rampaging bulls. One of the runners were taking the lead, but as I thought while I was running I should also use skill so I did and took the lead and created a humongous gap between us so I decided not to waste my energy, so I slowed my pace and tried saving energy for the next race I was looking forward to which was 100 metres.

But, as I was waiting our M.C called out for runners to run the next event which was 400m so I took the opportunity and went ahead to the area we had to be seated at. Then as we got called up, we all agreed to jog the whole thing but I also told the boys that I would sprint the last 100m, so they all agreed. As the shot was made a guy from Rata came running in and was leading us, but as it came to the last one hundred metres, he got too cocky and I took my chances while he wasn’t running at full pace and sprinted past him like the wind.

As I was waiting for the 100m event to be called out, Harris then announced that the Junior Runners were to make their way down to the starting line. As we waited all the boys made a promise to run together, but as we came to the starting line the shot was made and one of the boys just took off and left us in the dust, but I never gave up I chased him down and was about 2 to 3 metres away from him. I was disappointed with myself I gave my trust to one who wasn’t trustworthy himself.

At the end of the day our house came 3rd or 4th. But didn’t really matter because all I wanted to do was to put Puriri up there and make our leaders proud of being in charge of Puriri as it was their last year attending Tamaki college.

First Week Back - Tynisha

New year, New start. New class, catch my drift? lol.
First week back at school was hectic, yet intriguing. Tbh, felt exactly same as last year repeating a pattern of subjects we had done the year before. I was afraid of making new friends this year, good thing is we ended up in the same tutor with the same tutor teacher. Alongside all this, overall first week back was alrighttttttttttt. (-:

First Week Back - Tatiana

FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL WAS BORING AS. MOSTLY BECAUSE I AM STILL IN THE SAME CLASS, WITH THE SAME TEACHER, AND THE SAME STUDENTS, IN THE SAME HOUSE. WE HAVE OPTIONS THIS YEAR AND I CHOSE P.E. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I CHOSE IT. WE HAD TO MOVE ALL THE WAY TO MS FERGUSON'S GRAPHICS ROOM WHICH IS TIRING. OUR NEW YEAR N9NES ARE COOL AND LITTLE. BASICALLY EVERYTHING IS THE SAME EXCEPT WE ARE YEAR TENS NOW AND WE'RE LEARNING DIFFERENT THINGS.

First Week Back - Sinola

Starting year 10 at tamaki was very scary for me,this was because i was a new student and i had to learn how  to adapt to a whole lot of new things such as the teachers, people and the school all over again.I was shivering on my first day as the nervs seemed to get the best of me,I didn’t know anyone except for Caroline.I was scared of making new friends, scared of the fact that i would never feel the same way about school the way i did in aorere, nor have friends like the ones i have back  at my other school. But despite the fact that i am not yet liking school so far,i have met so many great people in my class and have also met some pretty amazing teachers too.Other than that i actually like my class, it’s honestly filled with a whole heap of weird students which is pretty cool. This year i have chosen business as my option and i am desperately hoping that it will help me in future for law.Futhuremore,i look forward for what the future has installed for me (:

First Week Back - Mino

The first day back to school was a bit awkward at first yet exciting. I am still in the same tutor class, (10PuririFerguson) 10Pfn with the same people and I am year 10(no longer at the bottom of the food chain), yet I feel like I'm year 9. This year is probably going to be a repeat of year 9, but with more academic requirements and fun?

First Week Back - Cruz

First day back at school was really boring, same things we normally do just now I'm year 10. Not at the bottom at the school any more, still with the same class, same friends and even same tutor teacher. But I reckon school will hopefully get better as it goes through the year. The End(:

First Week Back - Alyson

Well TBH it was really boring. It was kind of awkward. It wasn't surprising that I was still n the same class as last year with the same tutor teacher :). Things have really changed since I am now a Year 10. The classes that I take are kinda cool, kinda lol. But overall school is fun at a certain point, :D

First Week Back - Sosaia

So recently we have just put a close to the first week of school , and I will have to say this year is looking bright. So yeah I have been transferred into a different class but at least I was put up. Through the first week of 2014 I have felt what I it takes to become first extension and I’ll have to say that its pretty tough but I think that I’d soon settle well into this new class of mine.

It has been great seeing friends and even teachers. In our intervals and breaks I’d go to the field and all you would seem to find was a field fill with competitive students playing a great game of rugby and some just chilling with their mates. Its ironic how my biggest fear of being back at school was waking up early in the morning to get ready for school but it actually fills wonders like for me I have something to look for and that I do not waste most of my days sleeping and staying indoors.

Being back at school has been great and I am sure that the year will be as smooth as Michael Jackson’s moon walking!

First Week Back - Sylvia

I’m now an official Year 10 at Tamaki College. Hence the fact that my House colour is Blue (Ew), I’m able to share memories with PFn for another whole year. Hence the fact that I’m still a Junior, being a Year 10 so far this year is going real good. The good part about it, is we can make the choice of our own to choose our Option choice, so I thought I’d go with Business, just to plan ahead a little bit earlier. It’s good seeing all the young Year 9’s walking around enjoying themselves as well as everyone else too. Renovations have been taking place in our B Block area and so it’s been quite a mission getting to our tutor class which has been re-loacted on the Tech side of the school. To me personally, I reckon this year will go real good education wise, especially now that our class has gotten to know each other and that the bond we share is beyond great.

First Week Back - Athena

Coming back to school with the same class and tutor teacher was really cool. Being with the same people made it easier knowing you already have classmates, with only 3 new people. Nothing really much changed this year besides our subject teachers and classes. This year we got to pick an option, I chose P.E because it seemed fun and I thought everybody else in my class was in there. They lied. The construction sites around the school makes it a little confusing for our classes, but don warryyy i got this. The Powhiri was cool especially the haka, but I couldn't really hear anything because I was all the way at the back. I like the new year 9's this year. They are really cool.

First Week Back - Aalyzah

My second year college-______-Its been great so far considering i was absent on the the first week due to illness. Being back to school and seeing all my friends. At first it was a little scary not knowing what class your going to be in. But the good thing about going in a new class is meeting new people i guess. But thank goodness we’re in the same class with the same people and a couple more has been fun. Another year with these guys(-; Its kinda different from last year in order that we get to pick an option. I chose to study Business, my first lesson was alright and hopefully gets better. Seeing all the year nines as the year tens saw us last year. Time flies by, enjoy being juniors. Because year eleven, is the real deal. Each and everyday memories are made, good and bad. But yolo.

First Week Back - Matthew

I think school for 2014 so far is being a great experience. Its better and ive made myself home at tamaki. I get along with the students and staff alot more than last year. I have high hopes for 2014 and I believe its going to be a good year. Especially having the same tutor class. I think 2014 is 10Pfn's year

First Week Back - Joseph

The first week of school as year 10 was really cool because I had different teachers and different classes but the toughest part was choosing an option. I wanted to do PE but no one else was doing it and I didn't want to be alone. I finally chooses music because Nathaniel was doing it and he wanted me to. When I went to music Nathaniel wasn't there and it sucked so i changed to PE. I glad because all the teachers I got this year are really cool and I am looking forward to a great year.   The first week of school as year 10 was really cool because I had different teachers and different classes but the toughest part was choosing a tech option. First Week Back - Caroline

Arriving back to school from an outstanding break . Returning as the Middle Junior students . No longer the babies of the school . Surprisingly remaining with the same students as last year. Receiving new teachers, learning unique things . Well settled in with our options excluding the part where some students had to deal with being accidently put into another . To end the week with a big bang , Tamaki College assembled outside the Marae to welcome the year 9 ‘s and the newcomers who once were us. As they all marched through the gates the seniors began with there Waiata. As far as we’ve got , everythings going more than Good . It’s going great.

First Week Back - Chelsea

On the last day of the holidays, I couldn't wait to start back at school. I had everything ready including my stationary and other equipment I may need. I actually missed seeing everyone's face including the teachers. It felt like it had been over a year since I hadn't seen them.

Seeing new students enter Tamaki College felt weirder than ever. New people and teachers, I had to meet them. Last Friday we had our powhiri to welcome the new students to Tamaki College. Hearing the senior boys performing the haka made me feel proud to be a student at our school. My legs started to hurt after a while, as we had to sit there on the marae for almost two hours.

This is my second year at Tamaki College, and I can tell you, IT HAS BEEN AMAZING. I cant wait to continue the year as a year 10 student.

First Week Back ~ Ilisapeci

Starting year 10 on the 30 of Jan here at Tamaki College was really nerve racking. Firstly because I didn't know what class I was going to be in and also meeting my friends and also the new people. I was also very, very happy and excited to hear that my class was altogether again and that there was only three new people at my class. I find my subject teachers too nice to be honest. They weren’t as strict as last year but that all goods. :).
The new building is really cool, i find the painting boring because its white. It would be cool if it was different colour for the B Block or the S block but above it all, it really looks nice. The smell of the  paint just doesn't do it for me, probs too strong for me. ;)
Having the powhiri on Friday the 7th of Feb, was cool. I couldn’t really hear what was going on because I was sitting all the way at the back, but seeing new faces especially the year 9s was cool.

My beginners journey here at Tamaki started of well and I hope it finishes well. Good seeing my teachers and Friends and New people :P:)

First Week Back ~ Angelica

To summarize my first week back at school for 2014,
For me, returning to Tamaki College felt like another whole new start to be honest. It felt like It was my first year again. I hadn't seen anyone since last year which is why I felt like I don't know anyone. However, my first day back, I felt welcome again and got more confident again. I was happy to still be with my fellow class mates from last year, still keeping that PFN blood. To me being a year 10 doesn't change anything. I still know my limits that I am in the junior syndicate. The learning process still remains the same this year, just different classrooms, different teachers, new faces, and of course extra extra long walks. However this year, I must put my mind to everything I do and prepare myself for next year, NCEA LEVEL 1. This year is no muck around year, although there will be fun activities and events throughout the year.

To add on to my summary, each day got better and better. I was more familiar with my new teachers, and whole new set of my timetable. It was good to see everyone again. Seeing the year 9's faces just remind me of last year. I could see there reaction to how big and different college is, compared to intermediate and primary. Now this is a year for me to better my schooling life. This is my time to change and become the girl I was last year during the first two terms.

First Week Back ~ Jaydenzel

Well I must say,the first week back at school was certainly more interesting than I had anticipated.

You see for starters,I woke up so early that it was pitch black outside.Preparations for school ended pretty fast and the next thing I know i'm standing at the school gate looking at the year nines as they conversed and played.

"I wish I was still a year nine"I thought to myself as I took a stroll around the school to see if anything had changed.
Not much had changed but the constructions surely did progress over the school holidays,After catching up with some
friends and classmates from last year we all headed towards the auditorium to find out about my classes.

A long talk with our dean(I was surprised it was Ms George again)and the classes were soon read out.
It turns out I amazingly moved up two classes and am now stuck in an extension class with people I don't know in a tutor class called "10PFn".There I was at my new tutor class adjusting to my new classmates and tutor teacher.

The weekends passed and it was officially the first proper day of school for 2014 and I was about to find out my teachers for all my subjects.I was excited yet slightly frightened at the same time.

Here is a brief explanation of my teachers and the subject they are teaching:
Mr Stoddard for Science
Ms Metcalfe for English
Mrs Dunn for Maths again
Mr Grundy for Computering
and Ms Apelu for Social studies
(It's funny how with a new tutor class you also get new teachers.)

Well I hope that 2014 is a good year because right now, I wish I could wind back the clock to 2013.

First Week Back ~ Havea

To be honest I never look forward to coming school but this year, I kind of felt like I wanted to be at school. Do you ever feel like when your on holiday and you want to go to school but when your at school then you want your holiday again? Well that's kind of how I feel now. I only look forward to coming to school so I can see my annoying friends and eat my lunch. My first day of school this year was WAY better than any first day I had to return to school, and this year I kind of like my classes, Mainly because my science teacher last year isn't my science teacher this year,
( even though she was pretty cool sometimes!) This year coming back was kind of scary but it feels all goods now so yeah!

First Week Back - Saia

New Classes, New Friends and also a new beginning. Starting school again but now as a Year 10. Chills going down our spines and butterflies in our stomachs.

As everyone entered the hall on Friday thirty-first of January Twenty-Fourteen, waiting patiently for our dean Ms George to tell us our classes. As soon as she said that PFN stayed the same but we had new students from other classes I was glad.

As our new tutor class headed off to our new tutor class as well. Our new tutor class was Ms Ferguson’s Graphics class. It was an alright class but the only thing was having to walk from tutor class all the way to our classes and after school having to walk quite a distance to get to the gate.

During that day we had to pick our options. At first I was going to choose P.E , but then when Ms Ferguson explained to us that if we had chosen P.E as our option we would just write all the time and not actually do physical education. So Matthew and I started to think for a while about our options. I straight away knew that Kayde would choose his favourite Maori. So then Matthew and I pondered for a while and had chosen Computing as our option.

On the first day we ventured off to our Option classes. Jayden and I travelled nearly the whole school just trying to get to our class, even though we could of just taken the fast way. As we entered Mr Grundy looked very stunned. He was probably expecting more students to be in his class but instead it was only eight boys.

As our option came to an end I was feeling very sad because I really wanted to choose P.E as my option. I caught up with Kayde and he really never looked as happy, he was saying that Whaea Pakinga was just constantly and fluently speaking maori to her students. Kayde knew what she was talking about, but he needed some time to think about something to reply with. So I asked him if he wanted to change options, and he agreed. (HOW NOICE) So after a day or so Kayde, Havea and I caught up with Mr Dunn , Havea tried negotiating with him so that he could let us change our option classes. Even he agreed, how nice. The reason why I took the P.E option is because I really really adore sports and running and every other physical things that have to do with P.E . I was also told from my friend, who is now an Year 11 this year, is that we get to go on camps and other fun stuff like that.

I think that with the building going on in the B block, it is kind of getting in the way because we are getting confused of going up to B12 for maths then getting told that we had to move into the auditorium because it wasn’t finished, we had to take another journey, we were so so annoyed but happy because we met another new teacher Ms Harris.

Now the Powhiri. It was a fun, exciting, great and also entertaining. (but really) Us boys as we all know couldn’t even sit still for a good 5 minutes without talking or annoying anybody else, mainly because the boys in our class are easily amused from anything in the surrounding area. As the new recruits of Tamaki College entered the gates to the Marae we were all overjoyed and pleasured. I reckon that the powhiri this year was fun and short because it finished earlier than usual.

First Week Back - Kayde

For me year 10 is not much a change from year 9. The only thing that I regard as being different is my classes and teachers. For my option I firstly chose maori then I realized I was the only one who couldn't fluently speak te reo maori, so I chose the option p.e with Mr Borland. With the building going on around B block getting around to classes have been confusing. Epically with maths where our class had to venture to the auditorium to do maths. Lastly the powhiri. For me the powhiri was AMAZING because I had the special privilege to preform a welcoming haka for the new student and teachers at TE KARETI O TAMAKI !

First Week Back - Jarna

First Week Back

For the first week back I thought it was going to tiring, but it was actually quite fun. The thing I have enjoyed most about this week is picking our option. I chose music because I am very passionate about it and I love listening, playing and teaching it. The reason I have enjoyed music so much is meeting new people in the class and also learning about one of the things I love doing most.

On Friday we had the Powhiri. As we sat there for a long period of time I got the chance to catch up with my mates. When they finally started it we watched the seniors do the Haka and welcome the year nine and new students to Tamaki College. From where we were sitting we couldn't hear a thing so we sat complaining about how our legs were sore and how we had pins and needles.

So far it’s been really fun and cool.  My new teachers are so cool and nice. I believe this year is going to be a good one.
