Level 1 Options - Saia and Havea - Automotive Engineering

AUTOMOTIVE

ENGINEERING

Level 1 Automotive Engineering is mostly the basics of making and understanding the parts of the vehicles. In this Level one you gain 20 credits.

In Year 12 (LEVEL 2)  its pretty much hands on stuff. You get to join the Trades Academy. You basically take apart the engine and get to test run it in cars and stuff. Whilst in this class you get to go MIT and learn more about automotive engineering. You get more than 20 credits in this Year level.

In year 13 (LEVEL 3) you pretty much get more than enough credits in this Level. You get to work with the transmissions and test run them. By choosing this career path, you can end up in many other jobs. Examples of these various jobs are, Automotive Body,Automotive Heavy Engineering and Vehicle Servicing.

Matariki - Havea

Did you know that Matariki is the Maori name for the group of stars also known as Pleiaders star cluster or The Seven Sisters. Also What is referred to as a traditional Maori New Year, when Matariki is for the tamariki-( Children). 

The Maori New Year is marked by the rise of Matariki and the sighting of the next moon! Matariki can be seen rising just before dawn in the last few days of May or the beginning of June every year. Matariki celebrations usually begin on the day of the first new moon following its rising.

I know for a fact that as an Aotearoa Citizen, and this may go for everyone else reading this that, if you live in the lands of Aotearoa, then this year on the date, May 28TH of May 2014, we all should just go along with the tradition and respect the Maori's and their Maori New Year!

My Options Next Year - Havea

The two options I have definitely chosen, and I say chosen because I've been thinking about it last term, is Business and P.E. 

What I want to do after year13 is get a job and save up so I can go to Australia because I've been hearing it's a way better life style there than here at NZ, ( Mainly because of our so called prime minister John Key!)

The kind of job I want to get is just things to do with heavy lifting.

Integrity - Havea

The definition of integrity is, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity also means, the state of being whole and undivided.

How I can show integrity around school is being honest with doing work in class myself, instead of letting my friends do the work, and tell my teacher I did all the work.

How To Make A Paper Plane...

Step 1. 
Use a sheet of 81/2-by-11 inch paper. Fold the paper in half lengthwise and run thumbnail along the fold to crease it sharply. Now, unfold the paper.

Step 2 
Fold down the top corners as indicated by the arrows. 

Step 3 
Fold the two edges toward the center line, as indicated.

Step 4. 
Make a valley fold in half. 
Turn the plane 90 degrees as shown in figure of Step 5.

Step 5 
Create a wing crease that begins at the nose as shown. 

Step 6. 
Form 3-dimensional shape as shown in figure. The Basic Dart is complete.

Athletics - Havea

The day before Athletics day was the day we praticed our chant's and my tutor class and I are in the house colour Puriri. For about fifty minutes, we had to pratice at least three chant's and the second one was the longest. To be honest it was boring as, but fun at the same time aye because my ding-dong of a friends and I were mucking around and we were just playing shadow-boxing. 

Then it came to the day of truth, yes it was Athletics days but before the events we had to practice for a little while then we have the performance's. As we practiced, my ding-dong of a friends and I did what we normally do, be idiots and muck around playing shadow boxing, but we already knew the chants so we were all sweet.

As we practiced it came to the moment of truth, and so Puriri marched onto the field like a blue gang of fierce rebels, but really, we're just a bunch of kids. Then we were seated into our area's where we had to stay seated for the remainder of the day but I reckon that was pretty smart organising that, because imagine four different house colours sitting in one group, there'd be colours every where. For the performances, Totara was first, then Rata, then it was us. As we were chanting, the boys and I were still mucking around and then Matthew (one of my ding-dong friends) and I threw Kayde ( the other ding-dong) onto my shoulder and we happily chanted, but MAN was that little guy heavy. After our performance then Kowhai was last but I got to admit, they've probably had the best house performance that I've seen so far.

After all houses performed, we started our athletics days and my friend Saia started Puriri off in the 1500m, and as minutes went by, I followed by going to shot-put, coming in third place and judging by the hugeness of the other boys that were doing shotput, I thought I was going to come last, but no I came third! After shotput I went and had a rest, meaning I went back and mucked around with the boys, for like five minutes.

Then 200m event was going. I wouldn't say I was fast but I came first by a huge gap and I was pretty impressed with myself because as I stood at the starting point, and heard the gun go off, there was this one kid named JD who was in-front of me for the first few meters, until I was in clutch mode, meaning I boosted it. After 200m I felt tired so I went and scabbed some watermelon off Mrs Tuipolotu and I personally thank her for that but anyways, I felt tired so I rested with the boys.

Later on was high jump for year ten boys and I aced that, coming in second place. For my height, I reckon I can jump pretty high. I think there were about fifteen of us and in the third round, there were only 5 of us and I manage to hold on but I couldn't much longer because 100m were on and I had to choose between 100m or High Jump, so I stuck with high jump. As High Jump went on, later was the relay that was the final event and I got to admit that was the best day of the week. I bet if we had changed one of our runners for relay, then we would've at least came third or fourth but what happened already happened.

As I look back now, I regret not going to 100m because everyone was telling I should've ran 100m but that's their problem aye, Lol. There is one person that I want to be trained by and that's one of the boys, Saia because he's so dedicated to his fitness and sports, so yeah I just wanna say Peace to the boys and Kia Ora to who ever is reading this..!!

First Week Back ~ Havea

To be honest I never look forward to coming school but this year, I kind of felt like I wanted to be at school. Do you ever feel like when your on holiday and you want to go to school but when your at school then you want your holiday again? Well that's kind of how I feel now. I only look forward to coming to school so I can see my annoying friends and eat my lunch. My first day of school this year was WAY better than any first day I had to return to school, and this year I kind of like my classes, Mainly because my science teacher last year isn't my science teacher this year, 

( even though she was pretty cool sometimes!) This year coming back was kind of scary but it feels all goods now so yeah!

If I Ruled the World - Havea

I believe that if I was ruler of planet Earth then I'd make anyone or everyone to make their favourite sport boxing because that sport could come in handy for some help-less people and that in may or may not come in handy once being attacked. My second command I would set is that everyone is welcome to do anything and everything positive so that most people can feel free however if people were to do bad things then I'd threaten them and like, shout" DON'T MAKE ME CHOP YOUR HEAD OFF!" HAHA and my last commandment I would set is that I would make a truce with every country and build an underground fortress underneath every country in case of any bad occasions or disasters and yeah, That's all.

My Perfect Lesson - Havea

What my type of perfect lesson would look like is when the teacher would teach us what would needed to be taught, then sit down for a nice solid ten minutes and then, check up on us to see if we're half way or brainy enough to finish.
At the moment the only a couple of subjects that do this for me, the reason being is because our teacher trust us to finish the work on time and that we make sure we do finish our work then, when finished we play games.

Respect - Havea

What respect means to me is just a kind manner of treating my fellow people nicely so that they may treat me nicely in return. What respect means at school is nothing because we have people forcing other students to do things they really wouldn't want to do, e.g. smoking or fighting. Respect at home is improving and why is because at home my family and I had just recently joined a family help group and we're starting to get better and better with each other. At first we were just swearing at complaining to our mum but now, we're totally different and how is because we're all communicating positively and taking responsibilities in what we should do. Respect at my church is very very high because as a Mormon, it's one of the commandments that we should obey, in-order to go to heaven! Outside all of the places,(church, home & school), respect is average but sometime soon, we'll all get along with each other, and that's what respect means to me!

Star Dome - Havea

Hahaha well to be honest, I didn't really like the bus rides to Stardom and back because I had to put up with the 9PFn girls so called singing and they're annoying laughs. I gave stardom a rate out of ten, which was five because they weren't as much as I expected, (no offence). What we learnt were things to do with our solar system but the two main topics were the planets that our galaxy contains and the stars like Maui's hook on the scorpion and the group of stars, known as the Matariki. That was just for the first half however, for the second we got to have free time outside at one tree hill park, until we went for that hike up One Tree Hill. It was moments away until I was able to breath as I was desperately seeking for oxygen. As I hiked down with the group, I chose to take a short-cut with my friends and we thought that since we were the first ones back to the park, that we can bags what ever activity we can see. I was having fun screaming like a girl until I heard the engines of the buses restart. I know that stardom was meant to be cool however, not for me. I sprinted across the field to search for my belongings and waited in the front of the line to bags my seat in the bus. As I hoped on the bus, I prayed that the 9PFn girls would be quite for once because peace and quite is like music to my ears. I was still in the middle of my prayer my classmates were pushing me to hurry up but as soon as the girls entered, they straight went from talking to singing. The bus ride was approximately half an hour and that was how long I was stuck with them. We had just arrived at home sweet home and as soon as those bus doors opened, BOOM and I was gone.

Havea - Bullying

Why is it difficult for parents / schools / teachers to do anything when bullying happens?

The reason being of why it's so difficult for teachers, parents and schools to prevent bullying happening is because at times it's hard to spill out truthful words to adults, (with us students thinking they might laugh at us). Another reason why is because sometimes us students are scared to ask for help and that we might get another bully involved if we snitch ( tell on the bully). My advice of standing up to your bully is to walk away. So yeah, those are my reasons why it's so difficult for teachers, parents and schools to prevent bullying and I thought I could give anyone that is getting bullied, some advice!

Havea - Athletics

It was Wednesday the 20TH 2013 when Tamaki had their Athletics and we had to gather into our House colours which are Puriri (my house colour/ blue), Kowhai (yellow), Totara (green/ winners) and then there's Rata (red ). Athletics was kind of cool because I took out most of the sprints however the lowlight was that Puriri came second but to me that was all right because it was better to place second then to be last. I know that Totara deserved to place first but my call out would be to them saying "you guys better watch your fellows back when it comes to Cross Country!" A rating I would give athletics out of ten would be a ten out of ten but as the year goes past, I'll be back and training for cross country. "Totara, you guys better watch out for cross country because I'm getting ready and prepared.!! :P

Havea - Getting to Know You

This week we were given homework which was to write about our buddy that we have been accidentally chosen by, by the piece of paper we had to randomly select in order to have a buddy but on that piece of paper had a number and only two people would have the same numbers. My buddy was Tynisha who also received the same number as me but now it’s time to find out about her. I know that my buddies favourite food is Mcdonalds and her favourite movie is Lion King but most of all her best memory which was making new friends; the reason being was because she was new to the neighbourhood. Tynisha’s favourite music is mainly any kind of music and her favourite colour is red, her nationality is Maori/ Niuean and her birthdate is May the 7TH 2000. I also know that her favourite animal is a Panda and that her favourite T.V. program is Once Upon A Time. Also that her favourite thing about Tamaki College is being with our class all day every day( 9PFN ) & last but not least, her favourite Athlete is who is Valerie Adams who is a two time gold winning olympian.

Havea - The Tamaki Way

I reckon that the Tamaki way is an impressive saying and also an stunningly way to show rules. The Tamaki Way is mainly about telling students where and what is out of bounds and what truly speaks of the truth about the school itself. I know that the Tamaki Way is a lesson to generally tell students what is allowed to be done and worn, and then there’s the things that you're forbidden to do or try. I think I would give it an effort to follow the rules and chose to listen to the Tamaki Way.

Havea - Merits

Approximately every year nine class have the opportunity to compete in the 2013 year nine class merits competition. So far my class is probably the only class that I know which has to beg for merits from our English teacher Mr Griffiths (also tutor to 9RGf). I say it's a pain but at least it's better trying then to get no merits, in other words something is always better than nothing. Class merits is like a key to an award that the winning class collects a trophy in assembly then is awarded free pizza for lunch on the following week. I say it's quite cool but it really sucks to be the class that comes last or second to last, or any other placing that is unacceptable to a person that is terminated to always win.
