Maori is considered as a core subject and is a short pathway to get
into university passing with good marks! This course can teach you
about the tapu values and the language of us indigenous people in New
Zealand. Maori!.

Future pathways: Maori tourism, Maori Kaiako, T.V Presenter, Maori
performing arts (Going around the world showing off Maori ways)
Anything really.

(Employers look for people who can understand Te reo Maori and the Tikanga)

Maori is a core subject at university. Maori is one core subject you
‘might’ have to have to get into university. With good marks though.

Matariki - Kayde

Matariki is a Maori event that takes place every year and this is the time for Maori new year and for Maori to grow new plants and crops. It is recognized by the seven sister stars in the sky. This event is usually around late May or early June. 

The World Cup - Kayde

Argentina are a proud "SOCCER" (real name of the sport)/football nation based on the West Coast of South America (39,144,753) and are currently first placed in POOL F. Here is a photo of their World cup strip for 2014...

ABOUT THE COUNTRY: The national dish of Argentina is asados (a variety of barbecued meat) grilled on a parillo (a large grill) that is packed with steaks; ribs; chorizo; mollejas (sweetbread), chinchulines (chitterlings) and morcilla (blood sausage). This is a picture of a national ARGENTINIAN DRESS! 

IN CONCLUSION I CAN SAY THAT ARGENTINA LOVE THEIR SOCCER...... not football !

Integrity - Kayde

Integrity: Means to be honest to a purpose set for you.

How I use it: By being honest to myself at school and making sure that I complete my work and try my best to complete it on time! :)

Teach Me Something - Kayde

 I'm going to write a step by step tutorial on how to pass a rugby/league ball from the ground.

Step 1: Stand facing straight until the hooker or halfback is ready.

Step 2: When one of the two is ready face your foot in the direction of the receiver  left or right then...

Step 3: If you want to spiral pass it, if your facing with your left foot forward then use your right hand and flick your fingers upwards and just nudge your left hand leftwards.

Step 4: Try it yourself and you will have an outcome, if you don't get it at first the you know practise, practise, practise makes PERFECT !

Athletics - Kayde

For me my athletics experience was fun! This was my second year at high school and my second, not to mention best athletics yet at Tamaki College. Our chant for Puriri was AWESOME to set a good vibe for the athletics day. Although we didn't end up as the eventual winners, I still had fun. I competed in many sports, but didn't win any, and again I had fun! That was the main idea of the day, so yeah I HAD FUN!

First Week Back - Kayde

For me year 10 is not much a change from year 9. The only thing that I regard as being different is my classes and teachers. For my option I firstly chose maori then I realized I was the only one who couldn't fluently speak te reo maori, so I chose the option p.e with Mr Borland. With the building going on around B block getting around to classes have been confusing. Epically with maths where our class had to venture to the auditorium to do maths. Lastly the powhiri. For me the powhiri was AMAZING because I had the special privilege to preform a welcoming haka for the new student and teachers at TE KARETI O TAMAKI !

Kayde - Feedback

Having a netbook connected to the internet this year has made me discover that with all the temptations such as facebook and games on the internet is that I can manage myself to do my work.

A special thing that I have learnt from my teacher is to answer questions (all questions) with full word and descriptive answers.

A significant thing that I have learnt by myself is that I can do my work faster and much more often compared to last year.

What I have learnt from my friend this year is to keep doing your work and if you want to play a game then finish and ask the teacher first.

What I have learnt from someone outside the classroom is to not be like them. I've seen other students from Tamaki College outside of class doing some real dodgy things.

I have helped other kids this year by guiding them in the right direction instead of waging class and not coming to school.

I have grown in my key competencies. One in particular, self management. Last year I swore a lot and answered back to teachers. Although I still answer back I've noticed its not as bad as last year.

My Perfect Lesson - Kayde

For me the perfect class looks like, well first of all its a P.E lesson! My vision is that everyone is running around having fun! And that there is no one sitting around and being LAZY!

What does respect mean to me?

At home? At church? At school? Outside all of these?

Well, I think that respect outside of school is maintained stronger and we are more disciplined. Especially at home and church. But at school I think that the discipline drops a bar. Sadly.

A world without respect would be tagged all over, bombed and destroyed with too much hood rats. So to me respect is a very good thing, though I am not that respectful. Still I try my best to be!

Star Dome - Kayde

On Friday the 7th of June 2013 the entire year 9's of Tamaki College went on a trip to a place called stardome on a dormant volcano called one tree hill. While there we were taught how the galaxy was formed some 4 billion years ago. We were told also how to brush your teeth in outer-space. If you already don't know then you don't want to know what to do. Overall we learned about the stars and what up above us in the far away galaxies.

Why is it difficult for parents , schools , teachers to do anything when bullying happens?

I think that it is hard for parents/schools/teachers to do anything about bullying because it is mostly done on the internet. Sadly people these days don't care and about what happens on the internet. Please parents/schools/teachers do something!!

Kayde - Athletics

On the 20th of Wednesday, March 2013, we had our annual athletics day.There are four houses, puriri, rata, kowhai and totara. Totara took it out. Although we came third and not first I enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun. But now I am keen and ready for Cross-Country so we (Puriri) can take it out!

Kayde - Getting to Know You

This week I got a homework task that was to get a random number and the person with the same number as me randomly. I got paired up with a girl called Chelsea. I had to find out her favourite things. Her favourite movie is Kung Fu Panda, her favourite musice is R’nB and Hip-Hop, her favourite food is butter chicken and Ice-Cream. And last but not least her favourite Tv show is Once upon a time. I got to know her a bit!

Kayde - The Tamaki Way

The Tamaki way. The tamaki way is our school rules to keep it safe and healthy. There are many rules to do this like No violence abuse or racism, no sexual harrasment, no prohibited items and many more! For me to have a good time at Tamaki College I need to follow these rules and have fun!

On my first day of school it wasn’t as scary as what people had said it was. To be honest I actually enjoyed it. I wasn’t shy and I introduced myself to pretty much every new person I met on that day, 30/01/13. The thing I most enjoyed was playing the class team building games.
