NCEA LEVEL 1:
Credits = 30 L1 (10 Literacy)

Maori is considered as a core subject and is a short pathway to get
into university passing with good marks! This course can teach you
about the tapu values and the language of us indigenous people in New
Zealand. Maori!.

Future pathways: Maori tourism, Maori Kaiako, T.V Presenter, Maori
performing arts (Going around the world showing off Maori ways)
Anything really.

(Employers look for people who can understand Te reo Maori and the Tikanga)

Maori is a core subject at university. Maori is one core subject you
‘might’ have to have to get into university. With good marks though.

Integrity - Matthew

Integrity means to be honest all the time, because honesty is the best policy and having strong moral principles.

How I can show integrity around school is not lying to students and teachers and being 100% honest all day every day.

Athletics - Matthew

Athletics wasn't as cool as last year. But it was still a fun experience. The costumes were amazing. I had fun and I like to watch people run. It was hot the whole day. It was stink how we couldn't wear paint and bandanas. Athletics was fun

First Week Back - Matthew

I think school for 2014 so far is being a great experience. Its better and ive made myself home at tamaki. I get along with the students and staff alot more than last year. I have high hopes for 2014 and I believe its going to be a good year. Especially having the same tutor class. I think 2014 is 10Pfn's year

Matthew - Feedback

Well having a netbook has helped a lot but has distracted me a lot too. Its easier to write instead of a pen and paper. Its easier to access all the sites and just read off it. But it gets distracting when games and youtube and stuff comes to mind. I just play games.

If I Ruled the World - Matthew

If we ruled the world we would make all fat food, have no fat but still taste the same. We would make everyone runon Saturday. And last, If we ruled the world, we would ban all cruelty and abuse. If anyone did not obey these rules, they would be hung.

My Perfect Lesson - Matthew

My perfect lesson looks like, alot of art everywhere. Paint, sketches, art. Everybody silent drawing. Sketches all over the wall. Teacher teaching us how to draw.

Respect - Matthew

What is respect? Well I think respect is showing regard and appreciation for one another. It means accepting a person for who they are, just not by the colour of their skin. And letting them be themselves, instead of them putting an act on just to be appreciated.It means valuing each others point of views.It is to honour yours and others personal values, religion, family customs.It means being kind and polite to others. The way you want to be treated is the way you treat others.Respect means to not cause violence within each other.

What is respect in school? Respect in school is, being kind to the teachers and other students.To show that you are at school to learn and be a friend to others, and not there to cause violence or harm to others.To not be a egg in class, and to listen to the teacher and get your work done.Respect the teachers by listening is class and passing test to show your learning.

What is respect outside of the house and school? It is like the others.To be kind to other locals, and shop owners etc. To respect buildings and cars, houses. By not tagging, throwing stuff at it, breaking things in or on it.By treating the town with kindness.

Star Dome - Matthew

Science trip to the Stardom. Most year 9 of Tamaki college went to the stardome. We took a bus ride, then were greeted by a staff member of the Stardome. We gathered into the dome itself, and took a seat. The staff member told us that we were going to watch a video. It began to play. Its showed us the contislations and some important stars, like the Matariki stars. He showed us how he skipped a week and where the starts were in the sky.

We left the dome room, and entered the foyer. Which had some gizmos about space and the galaxy. Like the weight machine. Its shows how much we would weigh on Earth, and show us how much we would way on the moon, or the other planets. This was my favourite.

Then we were introduced the then space room I think it was called. This is where he taught us what its like to be in space, or in a rocket. He showed us a video clip of what it was like is space. The video had a man and he was showing us how to brush his teeth. It was a tricky video because everything was floating. Though it was humorous how he could just leave the microphone, toothpaste and brush without having to worry about it. He also showed a part of how tricky it was to pick something up off the moon onced you dropped it. An astronaut tried to pick something up he dropped, but it was hard, so he fell and was rolling on the moons surface.

Our turn is the Observatory was over, but we weren't leaving just yet. We had a little play around on the park that was just outside the Stardome. We also went for a walk up One tree hill Mountain. We took a few pictures and had a laugh up the top. I found this a time to bond with the other students and class members. I noticed how our class became a lot closer after this trip.

It wasn't a bad trip after all. It all ended well, and we headed back to school to finish off the day.
