Matariki - Cruz

Matariki, is a 7 star cluster. Also sisters. The name of the stars are Waiti, Waita, tupu-a-nuku, tupu-a-rangi, Waipuna-a-rangi, Ururangi and Matariki. Matarki is the maori name for the Pleiads. This will appear in this year on the 28th June, which is Saturday. You can see the matariki during early hours in the morning. :)

Matariki is the name of constellation of the stars that rise once a year. To the Maoris, this symbolizes a new year. To the Australians this constellation is known as the Seven Sisters. 
On the other hand Maoris have a big celebration to symbolize the new year. These festivities mainly include a big feed meaning lots of food + fireworks and being around family.

Fresh Sweet Dates

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh dates
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom, ground

Procedure

  1. Remove the pits from the dates and arrange in 6 individual serving dishes.
  2. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan and stir in the flour.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the flour turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn.
  4. Remove the flour mixture from the heat and stir in the cardamom.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, stirring occasionally.
  6. While still warm, pour over the warm dates and allow to cool to room temperature before serving.

This is the main course in so many restaurants in America. The name was originally from germany, this was when so many german people emigrated to U.S.A which also stands for why they named it because burg means fortified settlement. Like the burger the hot dog was also from germany but was popularized in the U.S.A. Another name for hot dog in America was called a Wiener.
